Tricking iCal into Next 7 Day view

Found an undocumented “feature” of iCal – it is possible to get it to behave correctly by setting iCal/Preferences/General as follows: Days per week: 7 Start week on: Wednesday Scroll in week view by: Days What is interesting is that this does NOT do what you would think, it actually does The Right Thing(tm) and […]

Good wines tasted last night

So I don’t forget the real pleasures of last night: Valminor Albarino is a crisp, clean, refreshing white – perfect for seafood Pearmund Viognier is fruity, with a beautiful nose and lovely notes to go with spicy fish, chicken or sausage… yum! Montes Purple Angel from Chile was a delightful full bodied red surprise; really […]

Trip to Venice, Italy (May 5-9)

May 5th: Wow, British Airways owned Boeing 777 planes are amazingly quiet; you can actually have a normal conversation and I did not need my canalphones to block out the noise of the jet engines. The seats seemed a little wider too; perhaps 19″ wide instead of 17″ – and that two inches makes a […]

Update: Apparently I am not the only one unhappy with the new interface: http://ignorethecode.net/blog/2011/03/30/skype_5/

Cool enhancement to MobileMe email system

I am not sure exactly when this happened, but MobileMe mail spool finally supports server-side filtering; you can finally put some spam fighting rules into your web account so the spam does not get to your iPhone/iPad (the Mail.app client has always supported client-side filtering). This potentially fixes the problem where your Mac saw no […]

MobileMe vs DreamHost or HostMonster Review

We’ve been pretty happy Dreamhost and MobileMe customers for years, and despite several MobileMe outages and a few Dreamhost outages we are pretty happy with both services. It is always wise to reassess your technology decisions though, as things do change. What we love about MobileMe: Absolutely fantastic web gallery for photos; best integration with […]
