Adding Ruckus Search Add-on to Firefox

This assumes you are running Firefox on Windows XP; for Ruckus Player only works on Windows.

  1. Install and start Firefox
  2. Click on the down triangle next to the Search Box in the top, right hand corner of your Firefox browser window.
  3. Select the Manage Search Engines… tab from the pull-down menu.
  4. Click the Get more search engines… link in the Manage Search Engine List window.
  5. Grab the A9 search Add-on, and click Add to Firefox
  6. Click Start Menu/My Computer, then enter C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data into the Address field.
  7. Double-click on Mozilla, then Firefox, then Profiles, then your profile, then searchplugins (which is new if you just did steps 1 through 5 above).
  8. Download the Ruckus.xml file.
  9. Drag the Ruckus.xml file to the C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\your.profile\searchplugins folder.
  10. Right-click on Ruckus.xml, select Open with…, and select Firefox.
  11. Completely exit Firefox web browser and restart it.
  12. Click on the down triangle next to the Search Box again.
  13. Select the Ruckus search engine from the pull-down menu.
