My letter to the Prince William County Board of Supervisors today
Please Vote NO today
I am a Prince William County resident, tax-payer, and voter. I am extremely concerned about today’s vote at the BOCS meeting.
I am concerned about my taxes.
I am concerned about unfunded obligations.
I am concerned about racial profiling.
I am concerned that we are cutting off our county’s opportunities for reasonable sustainable growth.
Frankly, I see this whole “illegal immigration” issue as giant publicity stunt by certain members of the board for their political campaigns. I am watching how you vote and will vote and contribute accordingly.
Please have compassion for fellow human beings, who due to unfortunate accident of location of birth have not been given the same chances to survive as you and me. Yes they have broken the laws to come to our great country to struggle to survive, and frankly, if we were in their shoes we would too. Some laws need to be revised.
Think about it - slavery was once legal, as was wife-beating. Those laws were revised. Please be rational today, and consider the impact your vote will have on human lives and on taxpayers in the county.
Sincerely,
Scott Nolan
I gave my address in the letter, which went to every supervisor, and every candidate for supervisor.

I am also a citizen of this county. With that out of the way, I can address this issue straight on. I,like most conservative minded people, don’t mind LEGAL Immigration to this country. This is a nation build by Immigrants and we a strong history of welcoming all who come here LEGALLY.
Because our borders are so open, I first see the presence of these ILLEGAL Immigrants as a sign as to how vulerable we are to another 9-11 style attack. For our country to survive, our government has to know who are in it’s borders. This has been reconized by every other country in the world, so why can’t we protect ourselves also? Not to mention a closed border will also help us keep the criminal element out also.
Secondly, alot(not all) illegal immigrants work for wages that cannot be tracked. Therefore they don’t pay taxes but they use our services. This includes hospitals, police, Fire& EMS, schools, welfare, and the list goes on. These activities cost our county far more than it collects from the illegal population. I for one am tired for paying for these abuses.
Finally I have to say that I don’t appreciate those who support the ILLEGAL population trying to bully us CITIZENS into accepting these activities! Since they are here ILLEGALLY, there is no incentive to assimilate and actually want to become a part of this country and culture. They are here to use our services, make easy illegal money, and divide us into two countries. This can not be allowed, and god bless our supervisors for finally addressing this issue as it needs to addressed.

I agree with you Scott. Dan, you should think into the issue more.
People come here illegally for legitimate reasons. Stealing from us definitely isn’t one of them. In their countries they struggle with no chance to rise above their poor lifestyles.
It is unfortunate that they come here illegally. You shouldn’t be angry with them. You should be pointing the finger at our government. They say they care about the security risks, yet it doesn’t seem to be top priority. They’re trying to pass legislation to boot them out, when they’re doing next to nothing to keep them from coming in.
Maybe if it were easier for people to enter the country legally the illegal immigrant population would drop greatly. But waiting years or decades to get in is almost laughable. It isn’t their fault that they’ll do anything for the wellbeing of their families and the government demonizes them for being here. They’re people just like everyone else here. The lack of compassion that people show is also hurtful to see. There is great incentive to become a part of this country. The money isn’t easy. We divide ourselves, and shame on our supervisors for not helping the “problem” at all. The issue needs to be addressed, but no one is doing it properly.
Fix the borders. Fix the immigration process. Then hopefully we can fix the racism and prejudice…
If we’re gonna be angry, we shouldn’t be angry with them. We should be angry with ourselves.

I am very sadden to see that a group such as the “Save Manassas” group has been allowed to even penetrate our so called “Modern, open minded society” I’ve lived in the Fairfax Co. and PW area since I was first sponsored by my mother to this country 21yrs ago(today, I’m a professional US citizen)ready to defend this country if I have to.
If we just pause for a moment and think who is to blame here, we should take a hard look into what has the congress/federal government done to prevent this problem from escalate to the point it has?? A comprehensive reform should and can still be considered. I’m even more sadden to hear some of my fellow african americans and sometimes fellow christians support such an objectionable stance. When I first came to this country I was shocked to watch in movies the horrors the african american community went through just for the color of their skins (believe it or not, if we are not careful evil always has a way of pnetrating in our society!) As a christian, I believe that God has the last word in everything. When Moses took the Hebrews out of Egypt and they had nowhere to go and Faroh was following them to kill them…OUR Father, the Almighty God, Jehovah Shalom, Jehovah Gireh (my provider) opened the sea, they crossed it and Faroh and his people drawned! I praise the name of the Almighty, the one who was, who is and will be. There are a lot of us praying, crying out to God for mercy of not only my brothers and sister with illegal status and their children, but mainly for this nation (which has such a long history of racial intolerance)
Scott, brother…may God almighty bless you and your household for your humble heart, it won’t be left unrewarded!
Dan, live up to your name: The bible says that Daniel did not contaminated his heart, he did not bow down to other gods when those around him did. I’ll pray for you and all of those in the board of supervisors with hearts of stone.

Prince William County homeowners are threatened with much lower property values by a proposal from Dominion Power. The window is closing on the opportunity for Prince William County residents to say no to Dominion Power’s 15-story power towers barreling through Prince William County neighborhoods. All so that Dominion can buy coal-fired power from hundreds of miles to the west and ship it up to New York and New Jersey. Who subsidizes it? YOU, through the devaluation of your property when these monster towers deface views and the community. Sound like something you’d hate? You’ve got less that a month to tell state officials “NO!” log onto http://www.virginiascommitment.org and use the very easy email form to tell the State Corporation Commission (SCC) to disapprove Dominion Power’s application.
