Frequent Valsalva and gargling with salty water and rinsing sinuses with saline solution is part of my regular routine anytime I feel a smidge under-the-weather. It really helps fight off most infections and even some viruses I am convinced.

This time the Crud caught me anyway, though modern medicine (anti-biotics and anti-histamines with decongestants have helped... was feeling better by Sunday.

For Whatever it is Worth - When I used to run an Audiology Testing Booth for the Military I get these pilots who'd whine and complain about sinus and ear infections. For them, having any ear/sinus problems would down the pilots so it was a big issue. At the onset of any sinus/ear infection I'd simply tell them to Valsalva through out the day and to take some aspirin, the majority of the time it worked for them quickly.

Valsalva BTW is the same thing you do on an aiplane to equalize the pressure in your middle ear - the pressure opens up your Eustation tubes and promotes drainage. Of course, follow a doctors advice and medication routine. Hope you feel better!
